- 2 and a half cup whole milk.
- One and a half cup granulated sugar.
- 6 egg yolks.
- 1/8 spoon salt.
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee mix of your preferred brand; you can also use strong brewed coffee if that’s your taste.
- 2-¼ cup of heavy cream.
- 1 half teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Quantity: 5 cups.
- Cooking time: 10 minutes.
- Preparation time: 25 minutes.
- Duration: 35 minutes in total.
Take out a saucepan and turn on the heat of the stove. First, add the milk, sugar, and salt. Once the milk starts heating up, add the instant coffee mix and stir it well. Turn down the stove to medium-low heat. You don’t want the mixture to start boiling. Stir everything until it starts to thicken.
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Take half of the hot milk mixture and slowly add in the egg yolks. Keep the rest of the milk on the stove and cook over medium heat and continue stirring. Cook for 5 minutes or until it thickens.
Over a bowl, strain the custard using a sieve and cover with a plastic wrap. Don’t let the skin form. Keep the custard in the fridge.
When the custard is cool, bring it out and add the vanilla extract and cream. Whisk until smooth. Turn on your ice cream maker and toss in the prepared mixtures. Store in the freezer right after it’s done. Enjoy after an hour of refrigeration.
