Sparkling cold brew coffee is made using regular cold brew coffee ingredients, but with an extra ingredient: sparkling water. Sparkling water gives the brew a delectable bubbly zest and a totally unbeatable flavor.
Coffee is definitely great for the morning, but sparkling cold brew is especially fabulous for long summer afternoons. Here are the steps to make a delectable sparkling cold brew.
1 cup of coarsely ground coffee
1 ½ cup of water
2-3 cups of sparkling water
Combine the ground coffee and water in a large pitcher or bowl.
Cover the mixture and let sit in the fridge for 12 to 24 hours.
Next, strain the coffee concentrate through a towel-lined mesh sieve or a French press.
Measure the coffee concentrate and add water as needed to fill a cup, drizzling the water through the grinds to get as much coffee as possible.
Combine 1 part sugar and 1 part water, and stirr until dissolved.
Add simple syrup and a squeeze of fresh lemon to your serving glass.
Add ice to the glass, and then fill it ⅓ full with coffee concentrate.
Top it off with carbonated water, optionally adding a splash of cream.
We recommend that you steep the coffee for 12-24 hours so you can get the best flavor from your beans. However, steeping for more than 24 hours will make your coffee too bitter and unpalatable.
Just as you can add cream for extra flavor in your cold brew, you may also add milk as desired. Any form of milk – oat, almond, soy, or dairy milk are just great.
Fizzy coffee does not do well when stored. It loses its carbonation and becomes bitter over time, so it’s best enjoyed as soon as it’s made.
